KUALA LUMPUR - All mosques and suraus are encouraged to hold 'solat hajat' ( prayer of needs) for the protection and safety of the country.
Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) Director Datuk Mohd Ajub Ismail said this following the latest developments of floods that have hit the nation especially in Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang.
He said the solat hajat would be held after Maghrib prayers on Thursday and after Friday prayers on Dec 23.
" Mosques and suraus are also encouraged to collect donationsxto extend some aid through the Musaadah Squad agency under the Religious Affairs Ministry to be given to those affected.
"We pray for the safety and the ease of all the rescue teams and for all our brothers and sisters to have perseverance to go through this misfortune," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) recorded a total of 72,691 flood victims in five states namely 41,021 victims in Terengganu, Kelantan (31,316), Pahang (252), Perak (54) and Johor (48) as of 10am on Wednesday.
