SHAH ALAM - Muafakat Nasional (MN) president Tan Sri Annuar Musa respects the decision of several personalities withdrawing their memberships from the non-governmental organisation (NGO) he founded.
He said as an independent NGO, its supporters need to be committed, steadfast and most importantly sincere to serve.
"I understand that they honestly support MN’s efforts, but at the moment there are other things they have to consider.
"I received it well and I am very grateful,” he said in a post on his Facebook, on Monday.
Singer Datuk Jamal Abdillah previously announced his withdrawal from joining MN due to the principles that he deemed not to suit him.
The same step was also taken by actress Ummi Nazeera Nur Hidayah Zainul Abiddin who announced her decision in a post uploaded on her Instagram account.
Annuar who was the former Ketereh MP urged that the matter should not be blown out of proportion.
"Jamal Abdillah is my best friend. We talk almost every day. Ummi Nazeera is like my own daughter. We are like family. Their careers are much more important,” he said.
He acknowledged that MN would go through various challenges and described that slanders were a part of life.
"The important thing is that we are honest and sincere. Maybe I made a mistake in announcing the names of the supreme council members too early. We are just humans, of course, we have our shortcomings.
"There are still many creative industry groups and artists who have joined MN.
"We still provide at least two representatives from the creative industry in the supreme council. Let’s let their involvement be known when the time is right,” he explained.
