BATANG KALI – The fourth day of the search and rescue (SAR) operations for the nine remaining victims of the landslide at a campsite near Father’s Organic Farm, Jalan Genting, on Monday will focus on Sector A and C.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Assistant Director Hafisham Mohd Noor said operations were resumed at 8am.
"We are focusing on the most likely places to find the victims which are Sector A and C with the aid of the tracker dog unit (K9) and excavators.
"Today’s challenge is the soft and slippery grounds due to the rain on Sunday,” he said in a press conference at the scene.
He said security officers have been deployed for any risk of landslides.
However, based on the information from the Survey and Mapping Department (Jupem) the risk of a landslide is low.
"Based on the records, the height of the original soil and rubble is about 16 metres.
"The operation of digging the ground will be done to find the victims who were feared to be buried,” he said.
Hafisham said he hoped the operation today would yield a result.
"I hope the efforts today would bring results. I feel a little upset because the operation yesterday (Sunday) did not find a single victim.
"We hope to be able to find the remaining victims today,” he explained.
