SHAH ALAM - Actress Ummi Nazeera has decided to withdraw her membership from Muafakat Nasional (MN).
Ummi Nazeera Nurhidayah Zainul Abidin or Ummi, 32, said she made the decision after considering the public's concern about her involvement in politics.
She instead wanted to give her complete focus on the art industry and her family.
"After considering the concern of my beloved fans, I, Ummi Nazeera, have decided to withdraw from Muafakat Nasional, a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
"I will continue to focus on working in the art industry and also focus on my family," she said in a post on her Instagram on Sunday.
On Saturday, singer Datuk Jamal Abdillah announced his withdrawal from MN because he described the political world as incompatible with his principles as an entertainer.
Ummi and Jamal became the talk of the town after their names were listed as MN supreme council members.
Prior to this, MN President Tan Sri Annuar Musa informed that the appointed individuals have various backgrounds, such as professionals, academics, influencers and anyone beyond political parties who would help him mobilise the NGO.
Meanwhile, through the same message, Ummi also thanked MN for appointing her.
"Thank you for MN's willingness to appoint me and good luck to them as an NGO. Thank you for everyone's support and concern," she said.
