KUALA LUMPUR - The talk programme "Post Pandemic: A New Dawn” organised by TedxIIUM shares the whole perspective of what the post-pandemic is all about.
The programme which started at 8pm on Saturday took place for two hours at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation, International Islamic University Malaysia (Istac-IIUM), here with several prominent speakers which included former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Project manager and IIUM former student union Abdulrahmad Baaqeel said it was essential to get people from all fields to discuss the post-pandemic situation.
"We tried to get perspectives from experts in nation-building, mental health, climate change, artificial intelligence and IT.
"I think what we have done was a great reach for awareness from the five topics and we should be holistic in our approach,” he said.
Despite organising the programme for the first time, Abdulrahmad said it was a success and they also received warm welcome from the participants and sponsors.
He said future programmes would expect more than 1,500 participants.
Besides Dr Mahathir, other inspirational speakers for the event were TheNoor App co-founder and chief technology officer Mohd Izzairi Yamin, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support consultant, United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef) Malaysia Malaysia Mental Health and Psychosocial Support consultant Dr Shermaine Su Tein Sim, Oval App Malaysia chief executive officer Farhan Idris and Assistant Professor in Chemical and Biological Engineering at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) Dr Munira Shahabuddin.
