PUTRAJAYA - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is confident he will gain two-thirds support from MPs for the vote of confidence motion in the special session on Monday.
He said this was based on the commitment given to him by party leaders under the unity government comprised of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
"Pray for the best," he said during a press conference after he chaired a Cabinet meeting, here, on Wednesday.
Anwar, in a press conference after he assumed the position, said that a vote of confidence motion would be tabled in the Parliament session on Dec 19 to clarify his legitimacy as Prime Minister.
The 15th Parliament term first meeting would take place for two days.
Among the main agendas would be the election of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker and the vote of confidence motion toward Anwar's leadership.
Based on the First Meeting Notice issued by the Dewan Rakyat Secretary Dr Nizam Mydin Bacha Mydin to the MPs, the election and swearing-in of the Dewan Rakyat Speaker was one of the arrangements for the proceedings in its initial stage.
