ISKANDAR PUTERI - The Johor state legislative assembly today congratulated Simpang Jeram assemblyman Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub on his appointment as minister and Perling assemblyman Liew Chin Tong as deputy minister.
Speaker Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi brought up the matter before the question and answer session during the state assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail, Kota Iskandar, here.
Salahuddin who is also Pulai MP was appointed as Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living while Liew who is Iskandar Puteri MP was appointed as Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry.
"This honourable state assembly would like to congratulate Simpang Jeram assemblyman and Perling assemblyman on their appointment to cabinet posts and wish them all the best," said Mohd Puad who is also Rengit state assemblyman.
In the recent 15th general election (GE15), Salahuddin who is also Amanah deputy president won the Pulai parliamentary seat with a majority of 33,174 votes defeating Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed (BN-UMNO) and Loh Kah Yong (PN-Gerakan).
Liew who is also Johor DAP chairman won the Iskandar Puteri parliamentary seat with a 60,036-vote majority against Tan Nam Cha (PN-Bersatu) and Datuk Jason Teoh Sew Hock (BN-MCA). - BERNAMA
