PADANG SERAI - Perikatan Nasional candidate Azman Nasrudin wins Padang Serai parliamentary seat, according to the Election Commission.
He won with a majority of 16,260 with a total vote of 51,637.
PH Dr Sofee Razak garnered 35,377 while MIC's Datuk Sivaraj Chandran received 2,983 votes despite giving his seat to PH.
Other candidates were Pejuang’s Hamzah Abd Rahman (424 votes) and Warisan’s Bakhri Hashim (149 votes).
The polls for Padang Serai was held today.
The election was deferred to today after PH candidate M Karupaiya, who won the seat in GE14 with a majority of 8,000 seats, died three days before the Nov 19 general election (GE15).
Karupaiya died of a heart attack.
