SHAH ALAM - Pas objecta to any vice activities including the opening of gaming outlets, said Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman.
He said former Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz should be asked on why it was not reduced.
This comes after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim-led unity government reduced special draws from 22 to eight from next year.
"Special draw issue is under the jurisdiction of finance ministry.
"The reason why the special draw is being introduced compared to the usual draw is also under the jurisdiction of Finance Minister," he told Sinar Daily.
Syahir also said the Islamic party has always objected any kind of lottery or draw introduced by gaming operators for Pas-led Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.
"There are closure of lottery premises in Pas states, we also receive good feedback from the society especially women that their husbands are no longer involve in any legal or illegal gambling activities," he said.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said starting Jan 1, gaming outlets will only be allowed to hold eight "special draws” for 4D numbers annually.
In 2021, Putrajaya had given gaming companies permission to hold 22 "special draws” for 4D numbers this year.
This is on top of the usual thrice-weekly draws.
However, during the Pakatan Harapan era only eight such special draws were allowed.
