KUALA LUMPUR - After almost two hours, Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang completed giving his statement to the police over accusations and remarks that could incite racial disharmony.
He was seen leaving the Sentul district police headquarters at 4.35pm, today.
The investigation against him was made under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
In a press conference outside the police headquarters, Abdul Hadi said he has given his full cooperation to the police in the investigation and will continue to do so until the disposal of the case.
He said he was merely playing a proactive role in the new government.
"This is my turn, the new government is very proactive,” he said adding that Perikatan Nasional (PN) have now seen the reaction of the people towards the new government.
When asked about the new opposition leader, he said PN would announce it later.
"We (PN) already have the name of the opposition leader. The announcement would be made soon,” he said.
Earlier, Hadi arrived at the Sentul police headquarters, here at about 2.55pm, accompanied by his lawyer.
It was reported that Pakatan Harapan (PH) lodged a police report against Abdul Hadi alleging that the latter had made defamatory remarks in relation to the 15th General Election (GE15).
