KUALA LUMPUR - The people’s economic problems are currently an important aspect of the agenda of the unity government.
Digital Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said, for this purpose, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has held a meeting with the National Action Council on Cost of Living (NACCOL) to find a solution to address the cost of living.
"The important problem is the economic problems of the people, it’s the joint agenda of the Unity Government, that’s what I see.
"For me, that’s a crucial thing and other things will be decided together,” he said.
On Sunday, Anwar, who is also the Tambun MP, gave a two-week period to a special committee set up to review and see the implications if targeted subsidies were implemented involving some of the main needs of the people.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said, the composition of the unity government which involved various party coalitions, was seen as pros and cons in implementing their respective manifestos.
"This is not the PH government, but the coalition government of PH, Barisan Nasional (BN), the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
"Its composition is not one-party but multi-coalition. Each party carries its own manifesto, and there must be a midpoint. For me, the midpoint is what needs to be worked on first,” he said.
