KUALA LUMPUR - Malay Rulers suggests that the appointment of five Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) members should not be under the prime minister.
Yang Dipertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir said it should be under several other institutions such as the Malaysian Bar Council, the Sabah Law Society, the Sarawak Bar Association and the Parliamentary Select Committee.
At present the JAC comprises nine members – four top judicial administrators led by the chief justice and a senior Federal Court judge and four other eminent persons, who are appointed by the prime minister.
