SHAH ALAM - Several areas in Dengkil and Klang were hit by flash floods today after heavy rainfall with at least 10 vehicles in the Megah Villa Kota Warisan Sepang parking lot.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said they started recieving reports of the incident from 5pm onwards.
Among the areas involved was Taman Meru Jaya, Klang with 18 submerged houses believed to be caused by clogged drains but no victims were reported.
"Flash floods were also reported in Taman Delima Jaya, Dengkil involving overflowing water from across the road to the housing area," he said.
There were reports on water overflow at Kampung Ampar Tenang, Dengkil following a broken bund at around 6pm.
"Broken bund following heavy rain and the overflow of water from the housing projects nearby caused flooding with a depth of 1.2 metres which affected ten houses.
"All the occupants of 18 families had moved earlier to safety. Firefighters are on site to monitor and assist residents," he said.
He said a temporary relief centre (Dewan Seri Gemilang) was opened for the placement of the victims.
