SHAH ALAM - Former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin congratulates Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as the 10th Prime Minister.
He said after almost a week of facing uncertainty in the country's administration, it was important that the country now has a clear direction.
"Although the results of the 15th General Election (GE15) may not be what I expected, the national interest prevails over everything else.
"I have been a member of the Cabinet and understand the challenges facing our new Prime Minister and his team.
"Congratulations to DSAI and hopefully you are able to wade through challenges ahead," he said in a brief Facebook post, yesterday.
In GE15, Khairy, who represented Barisan Nasional (BN) contested in the Sungai Buloh parliamentary seat. He was defeated by Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk R.Ramanan in a seven-cornered fight.
Ramanan gained 50,943 votes and won with a majority of 2,693 votes while Khairy received 48,250 votes.
