SHAH ALAM - Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad hopes that the 4,566 Langkawi constituents who voted for him in the 15th general elections (GE15) do not feel sad and discouraged in continuing the struggle in the name of their race, religion and the country.

The former Prime Minister said they should remain confident because although there were not many of them, it did not mean that they didn't put up a fight.

"It's because we stand by the principles of our struggle, we are sometimes neglected," he said in a letter posted on his Twitter page on Saturday.

In GE15, Mohd Suhaimi Abdullah of Perikatan Nasional (PN) secured a majority of 13,518 votes beating Armishah Siraj (BN), Zabidi Yahya (PH), Dr Mahathir (Pejuang) and Abd Kadir Sainudin (independent).

Dr Mahathir also thanked the 4,566 voters who voted for him.

"I don't know who voted for me because the ballot is secret so I have no other way to say thank you very much to each and every one of you for daring to vote for me, except through this open letter.

"Although I may not know every one of you, I am very honoured by the passion, courage and rejection of corruption by all to vote for me who represents Pejuang/GTA," he explained.
