SHAH ALAM - Umno members who were earger to make reforms were told that they can do so once the Malay party conducts its election, which will be done within less than six months from now.
Party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said when the time comes, members themselves can decide to make changes to the party leadership.
"The party election will take place less than six months from now and it is only right for us to wait for the time to either make changes or maintain the positions of the candidates who will be leading the party from then on.
"Leaders come and go, but this Malay party should not be ruined," wrote Zahid on Facebook.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman also thanked those who supported his presidency over Umno at today's Solidarity Rally to Defend The Instutition of The Umno President.
"The friends who showed up en masse when the party was being sabotaged from outside and inside, made us all very proud.
"The heritage of our ancestors is still standing strong even though the enemy tried to dissolve it and we must defend it together until the end of our lives," he said.

The supporters, who are believed to be members of Umno, dressed in red to show their solidarity for Zahid following intense call for him to step down due to BN's disasterous electoral performance in the 15th General Election on Saturday.
