KUALA LUMPUR -Pas and Perikatan Nasional (PN) will discuss joining the unity government under prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership.
In a statement, Pas secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the offer from the prime minister will be discussed thoroughly with PN component parties as they were are also considering PN voters who showered Pas and PN with overwhelming votes in the last 15th General Election (GE15).
"In the near future, we (Pas and PN) will discuss about the prime minister's offer to PN to join the unity government under his leadership.
"We are also surveying the views and willingness of the voters who gave tremendous support to Pas and PN in the last GE15." he said.
Pas also expressed its gratitude to the Majesty Yang di-Pertuan Agong for appointing the prime minister based on Article 40(2)(a) and Article 43(2)(a), of the Federal Constitution.
Pas also congratulated the 10th prime minister and expressed their confidence that Anwar would carry out his responsibilities in a fair manner.
" We are thankful to god that the national leadership crisis due to GE15 is resolved with harmony and peace. Pas accepts the decision with an open heart.
"We would also like to congratulate the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia. We are confident that he will carry out his responsibilities fairly and prioritize the concept of federalism which is important for the nation ," he added.
On Thursday , after five days of a hung Parliament, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah announced the appointment of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia's 10th prime minister.
