SHAH ALAM - Umno's negotiating committee needs to be firm in their discussions on the formation of the new government following the dismal performance in the 15th general elections last Saturday, said former Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar.
No said any missteps on the part of negotiations could heavily impact the party going forward.
"If a wrong decision is made, the Malays people will disregard UMNO and this could lead to more of the 30 remainings seats being lost in the 16th General Election (GE16).
"The battle cry of 'Hidup Melayu! Hidup Umno!' (Long live the Malays! Long live Umno!) will be designated to history.
On Monday, several BN and Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders held a meeting at the Seri Pacific Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to discuss the formation of a government.
Among the representatives from BN who were seen in attendance was its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and secretary Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
