KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reiterates that the judicial body shall remain free.

He was asked to comment on what would happen to Barisan Nasional (BN) president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s court case if the two coalitions merged to form a unity government.

Anwar said the court and the government were separate entities.

"The court is the court, (while) government is government.

"Court is court, it is not bound by what decisions made by the government.

"Judicial body shall remain free so it (any political decisions) should not be linked to the court process that should be free from the executive,” he said.

Earlier today, BN and PH top leaders had a meeting at Seri Pacific Hotel, to discuss about forming a coalition for GE15.

However, Anwar said that BN needed more time before coming to a strong decision.

"This has not been conclusive, they (BN) want to go through this process by meetings among themselves before making a decision,” he said.

Also present at the press conference were DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) president Datuk Seri Dr Wilfred Madius Tangau.
