Anwar leaves home, expected to attend meeting with BN leadership

KUALA LUMPUR - A black BMW vehicle is seen bringing the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and leaving his home premises at 10.04am.

When asked where he was headed, he briefly replied, "sightseeing”.

It was understood that a meeting between PH and BN leaders would take place at 10am at a hotel in the capital on Monday.

The report of a news portal stated several sources from the coalition confirmed that there would be a meeting this morning but refused to reveal the purpose behind the meeting.

Based on the official results of the 15th General Election (GE15) there were no party that could create a simple majority of 50 per cent of 219 Parliamentary seats contested to form the government.

Anwar stated that PH had the majority to form the Federal government.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president was confident he would be given a chance to become prime minister.

The Election Commission (EC) through a statement on Sunday revealed that PH had won 82 Parliament seats in GE15.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah ordered the leaders of the political parties with the largest majority to present the new coalition and Prime Minister candidate to Istana Negara before 2pm, Monday.

Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Istana Negara had received the GE15 official results document from the EC at 1.15pm

He said that based on the documents brought forward by the EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh, it was clear that there were no political parties that had successfully held the simple majority in Parliament to form a new government.
