SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin claims that he has secured enough support from MPs to enable him to be appointed by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong as the 10th Prime Minister as per the Federal Constitution.
The Pagoh MP said he had reported the matter to the PN Supreme Council and that he had met with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) president Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg to discuss the formation of the next Federal Government.
"I have reported to the PN Supreme Council that I met with Abang Johari earlier this morning to discuss the formation of the next Federal Government.
"He has informed me of the readiness of GPS members of Parliament to support me as the 10th Prime Minister.
"I have also met with GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor who also expressed similar sentiments and support for me,” he said in a statement.
He also added that several other Members of the House of Representatives have also given the same commitment.
Muhyiddin said that he was confident that he would obtain sufficient support from the members of Dewan Rakyat to be the prime minister.
"As the Chairman of PN, I am confident that I will obtain a sufficient number of support from the Members of the Dewan Rakyat to enable me to be appointed by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong as the 10th Prime Minister as required by the Federal Constitution,” he said.
