SHAH ALAM – MCA calls for Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to resign his post as Barisan Nasional chairman.
In a statement its secretary general, Datuk Chong Sin Woon said that Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should respectfully resign from his post as the Barisan Nasional chairman and allow another leader to take his place and determine the course of action for the coalition.
Chong said MCA has lost confidence in the chairman’s leadership.
He further added that MCA was surprised and disappointed following Zahid's decision to postpone the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council Meeting that was scheduled to take place tonight.
"At a time when the political situation of the country is still unstable and uncertain following the recent 15th general election (GE15), the necessity of a Supreme Council Meeting is critical to discuss current political situations and make Barisan Nasional’s decisions as a bloc,” said the MCA secretary general.
Chong added that no party has the rights to represent Barisan Nasional in making negotiations with any political party without the mandate of the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council.
He stressed that if the current chairman of BN resigns from his post, the BN acting chairman should immediately call for a Supreme Council Meeting.
