SEREMBAN - Barisan Nasional ( BN ) returns to dominate Negeri Sembilan after it regained two parliamentary seats from its rivals and defended three others in the general election (GE15).
BN’s Adnan Abu Hassan won the Kuala Pilah seat previously held by Perikatan Nasional (PN), while Datuk Mohd Isam Mohd wrested the Tampin seat back from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Berita Harian reported.
Adnan who is a Senaling state assemblyman won with a majority of 6,483 votes out of 21,243 votes.
He defeated incumbent Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith (Perikatan Nasional) who obtained 11,560 votes. Nor Azman Mohamad (PH) who obtained 14,940 votes and Datuk Azman Idris who only obtained 333 votes.
Mohd Isam who is the Gemencheh state assemblyman won with a majority of 1,276 votes by obtaining 23,283 votes while his contender Muhammad Faiz Fadzil (PH) obtained 22,007 votes, Major (B) Abdul Halim Abu Bakar (PN), garnered 14,962 votes and Zamani Ibrahim (Pejuang) only managed to secure 781 votes.
Umno deputy president, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who contested a parliamentary seat for the first time easily defended the Rembau seat which was previously held by Khairy Jamaluddin.
Tok Mat won in style with a majority of 19,897 votes and defeated his contender Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus (PN) who obtained 21,875 votes, Ramly Awalludin (Pejuang) who obtained 529 votes and S. Tinagaran (Parti Sosialis Malaysia) who obtained 779 votes.
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias was once again elected in Jelebu when he won with a majority of 1,724 votes out of 21,805 votes.
He defeated Datuk Zulkefly Mohamad Omar (PH) who obtained 13,680 votes, Zaharuddin Baba Samion (PN) who garnered 9,596 votes and Ahmad Fakri Abu Samah (Pejuang), with only 253 votes.
Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli (BN) won the race for the Jempol parliamentary seat by obtaining 30,138 votes with a majority of 11,519 votes.
He defeated Muhammad Noraffendy Mohd Salleh (PN) who obtained 16,722, Norwani Ahmat (PH) who obtained 24,281 votes and Mohd Khalid Mohd Yunus (Pejuang) who obtained 654 votes.
As for the Seremban and Rasah parliamentary seats, it was expected that PH will win because as the seats are DAP stronghold seats.
Anthony Loke Siew continued to defend the Seremban seat by obtaining 63,916 votes with a majority of 30,841 votes.
He defeated his contender Fadli Che Me (PN) who obtained 33,075 votes, Wong Yin Ting (BN) 24,584 votes, Mohamad Jani (Pejuang) 1,336 votes and Izzat Lesly (Independent) 373 votes.
Meanwhile, Cha Kee Chin in Rasah won by obtaining 81,434 votes with a majority of 43,177 votes.
He defeated Ng Kian Nam (BN), who obtained 19,447 votes and Datuk Choong Vee Hing (PN) who obtained 18,810 votes.
Overall, Pejuang's attempt to 'contest in Negeri Sembilan was in vain when all their candidates lost their deposit money along with the two Independent candidates from Parti Sosialis Malaysia and Warisan.
