Total flood victims in Johor remains unchanged

JOHOR BAHRU - The number of flood victims in Segamat and Tangkak remains unchanged with a total of 276 flash flood victims from 69 families placed in four temporary evacuation centres (PPS).

District Disaster Management Committee's (JPBD) statement said the four PPS had involved Kampung Batu Badak Town Hall and Tasek Community Hall for the Segamat district and Sekolah Agama Simpang 5 Darat for the Tangkak district.

"As of 8am on Sunday, The Segamat District PPS at Kampung Batu Badak Town Hall housed a total of 39 flash flood victims from 12 families from Kampung Seberang Batu Badak Kampung Batu Batu 5, while the Tasek Community Hall placed 14 victims from five families Kampung Seberang Batu Badak.

"For the Tangkak district, 122 victims from 29 families from Kampung Simpang 5 Darat, Kampung PT. Bunga Raya adnd Kampung PT. Pulai was placed in the SK Simpang 5 Darat PPS in addition to the victims of a total of 101 victims from 23 families from Kampung Simpang 5 Darat, Kampung PT. Bunga Raya and Kampung PT. Pulai was placed at Sekolah Agama Simpang 5 Darat," the statement said.

Two districts involved, which are Segamat and Tangkak were still affected by the flash floods with 276 victims from 69 families were still in both districts.

The report stated there was no storm warnings reported by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) as of now.

However, rain was predicted to hit Mersing, Segamat, Kluang and Batu Pahat, Tangkak and Kulai on Sunday.
