JERLUN - After resoundingly rejecting Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Kedahans have invariably dealt another blow to the former prime minister by stifling his son's bid for the Jerlun parliamentary seat.

Datuk Seri Mukhriz's political ambition in the national polls yesterday was dashed after he not only failed to win bout but had also lost his deposit; garnerning only 3,144 votes.

The four-cornered fight in Jerlun was won by Perikatan Nasional's Dr Abdul Ghani Ahmad who garnered a total of 31,685 votes.

The remaing two contestants were: Barisan Nasional's Datuk Othman Aziz who secured 11,229 votes and Pakatan Harapan's Dr. Mohamed Fadzil Mohd Ali 6,149 votes.

Mukhriz contested under the banner of Gerakan Tanah Air.
