GOMBAK - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has extended his lead over incumbent Perikatan Nasional stalwart Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in the race for the Gombak parliamentary seat.
As of 10pm, Pakatan Harapan's Amirudin had garnered 33,540 votes to Azmin's 23,260 for a majority of 10,280 and it looks likely that the latter will be surrendering the seat he has held since 2008.
Former PKR deputy president Azmin won the Gombak seat on a Pakatan Harapan ticket in the 14th general elections in 2018, but defected to Perikatan Nasional in March 2020.
