KOTA KINABALU - Barisan Nasional (BN) wins the Beaufort parliamentary seat with a majority of 2,518 votes through its candidate Datuk Siti Aminah Aching.
Based on the official results of the Election Commission (EC), Amina got 10,570 votes, which defeated five other candidates, namely Johair Mat Lani from the Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) with 8,052 votes and Dikin Musah from Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 7,835 votes.
Additionally, Aminah also defeated Masri Adul from Parti Warisan (Warisan) with 2,152 votes and Independent candidate Mat Lani with 143 votes.
The total number of votes was 29,298 and the total number of registered voters was 43,248, but the percentage of voters who went out to vote was at 67.74 per cent.
The Beaufort Parliament was previously a traditional BN seat but its former member of parliament Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun hopped to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) party.
