KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Bangsa Malaysia candidate Zuraida Kamaruddin is falling behind in her race to recapture Ampang.
In the 2018 general election, she won with a 41,956-vote majority.
She was among the faction of PKR leaders who quit the party during the Sheraton Move that led to the collapse of the PH government in 2020.
Zuraida is going against MCA Beliawanis chief Ivone Low Yi Wen of Barisan Nasional (BN), Rodziah Ismail (Pakatan Harapan), Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif (Perikatan Nasional) and Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi (Pejuang).There is also Warisan's Lai Wai Chong and three independent candidates Muhammad Shafiq Izwan Mohd Yunos, Tan Hua Meng and M Raveendran.
In a bid to win the Ampang seat the PBM candidate had campaigned by dangerously standing on the divider of a busy road, waving at passing cars.Zuraida is said to have performed a flash mob with her supporters before greeting Ampang residents with her placard.
Her effort was made fun of by Malaysians, who mocked her attempt to gain votes.
Her attempt had been caught on video.
On Tik Tok user had commented, "It is so sad seeing her like this. While she is waving at cars, might as well sell pickled mangoes. At least she can get RM50 to RM60 in a day."
