SHAH ALAM - A total of 3,200 employees of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has been assigned to monitor and be prepared, both in the field as well as the operation room, during the 15th General Election (GE15) voting hours.

TNB's chief distribution network officer, Wan Nazmy Wan Mahmood said, his party is committed to ensuring that the electricity supply at 6,623 Voting Centres and 165 Official Vote Tallying Centre in the Peninsula are in good condition on voting day.

"The electricity supply situation throughout the country is being monitored at all times, especially until the official tallying of votes process that is expected to continue until midnight," he said in a statement on Saturday.

In the meantime, Wan Nazmy said, TNB is also monitoring the flood situation that has occurred in several areas by ensuring that the electricity supply at the temporary evacuation centres (PPS) is not interrupted.

"In addition, mobile generators and portable generator sets have been placed at each Official Vote Totaling Centre and some flood locations as a standby to provide supplies if needed," he said.

Previously, as a precautionary measure, TNB also warned all parties to refrain from excavation work in an effort to reduce the risk of being in contact with electric cables, thus avoiding the possibility of power supply interruptions due to cable damage.
