REMBAU - Khairy Jamaluddin or KJ is not the only one who misses the people of Rembau, but the feeling is mutual for the people of Rembau too.
The Health Minister's presence at the polling centre at Haji Mohd Yatim Ulu Gadong Religious Secondary School, here, caught the attention of some voters there who did not miss the opportunity to take pictures.
Senior Citizen Abd Rahman Idris, 65, admitted that he missed Khairy’s presence in Rembau and described Khairy as a good young leader.
He said even though Khairy had 'migrated' to Sungai Buloh, he prayed for the caretaker Health Minister to win there.
"As someone who used to be in KJ's constituency, it's a pity that he is now at another place. Our strong man in Rembau is gone.
"But I believe that the way he worked in Rembau, he will do the same in Sungai Buloh later and I hope KJ will not forget the people of Rembau," he said.
Former soldier Zainal Tait, 76, said he believed many people in Rembau missed Khairy.
He said, throughout his three terms of service in Rembau, Khairy had provided the best service and he hoped KJ will win in Sungai Buloh.
Meanwhile, Najwa Zamani, 32, said that Khairy's name has indeed become ingrained with Rembau and his move to Sungai Buloh definitely felt.
"Everywhere I go and when I say I'm from Rembau, everyone says that we are 'KJ people'. So KJ’s aura is really strong in Rembau.
"The people of Sungai Buloh are lucky if they get KJ as an MP because he is a young leader of calibre and I hope he wins there," she said.
Resident of Kampung Gadong, Mohd Zuly Mohd Zain, 42, also expressed hope that Khairy would win in Sungai Buloh.
He added that it would be a loss to the country if leaders like Khairy were not given the opportunity to serve the people.
