SHAH ALAM – Voters must equip themselves with all the information they can before polling day, tomorrow!
With the passing of the new Undi18 bill in 2019, the 15th General Election (GE15) will see about 1.14 million youths aged 18-21 years becoming eligible to vote.
Here are some important things to note if you are a new voter, yourself.
To find out where you are voting, head to the official Election Commission website at https://mysprsemak.spr.gov.my. Here, not only you will be able to find out where your voting location is, but which lane you will be voting in.
Still unsure who to vote for? No worries, you may check who are the candidates for all 222 Parliamentary seats and State Legislative Assembly (SLA) seats on the same website!
Once you get to know them, you may then surf through the Sinar Daily site to find out what their campaign objectives are and how this can benefit you as a rakyat.
Voting centres are open from 8am to 6pm so do go at a time that suits you best!
Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes as you might be standing in line for a long time. But most importantly, DO NOT wear any clothing with political parties’ logos on them as you will not be allowed to go in! (Band T-shirts are completely fine though.)
There might also be fights breaking out between supporters of the opposition parties so do keep an eye out for them or anybody acting suspiciously and notify the Election Commission officer on duty right away.
Make sure to wear AND keep your mask on at all times as well as sanitise your hands regularly as the threat of Covid-19 is still among us.
Last but not least, don’t forget to bring your MyKad, which is the only thing you really need to exercise your voting right.
Congratulations on taking the first step towards making Malaysia a better nation and happy polling!
