PONTIAN - Umno states that negotiation after the 15th General Election (GE15) will only be made with Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
Its Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said there would be no negotiations with any coalitions and other political parties based on the confidence that Barisan Nasional (BN) would be able to establish a government with a simple majority after the polling day on Saturday.
"If tomorrow BN successfully gains 112 seats in the Peninsula and Sabah. Who else would we discuss with, surely BN would want to discuss with GPS.
"Why we want to discuss with GPS is because GPS was BN's close friend.
"In the Sarawak State Elections (SE) and GE15, BN will not place a candidate in Sarawak. The one contesting in Sarawak was Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"I want to confirm that there would be a negotiation with GPS after GE15 but not with other coalitions," he said.
He said such during the press conference after a programme with the locals at a supermarket, here, on Friday.
Previously, Umno was reported to reject the claims that PN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that BN would combine with PH after GE15.
Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid was reported saying the accusations were only an assumption with the aim of giving voters the wrong impressions of BN in this election campaign.
