JOHOR BAHRU – "It was an old video that was being replayed.”

That was the reaction of the South Johor Bahru District police chief, assistant commissioner Raub Selamat when commenting on the video of travellers' congestion that allegedly took place at the Sultan Iskandar Building (CIQ), on Thursday.

According to him, the video was an old video that was re-uploaded to show the overcrowding as the people in the country returned to vote.

In fact, he said, the situation of the influx of travellers at the Sultan Iskandar Building on Thursday, was at the normal rate and there was no sudden increase in travellers.

"We at JBS IPD certify that the situation portrayed by the viral video did not occur today (Thursday).

"The footage is believed to be an old video replayed to depict Malaysians returning to the country for the purpose of voting,” he said in a media statement on Thursday.

The 17-second video which is claimed to have taken place on Thursday, shows a group of travellers crowding into the country through the Sultan Iskandar Building.

Raub asked that that people do not release fake videos like as it will only upset others.

"The Sultan Iskandar Building is able to accommodate 2,000 people (travellers) at any one time.

"Therefore, we advise against transmitting videos like this in the future,” he said.
