AMPANG - Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin today stood in the middle of the road while campaigning for votes in the 15th General Election (GE15).
A 30-second video that has gone viral shows the Ampang candidate holding a placard while standing at a road divider on Tuesday.
It is understood that the video was recorded when Zuraida and her supporters attended a flashmob on the main road near the Ampang Jaya gas station on Tuesday morning.
The action has raised concerns among social media users over the safety of the PBM candidate.
However, PBM supreme council member JC Jess Choi said the safety aspect is prioritised and an initial briefing sesion was held before the flashmob.
Choi added the flashmob has been carried out since 2008 as one of the framework of the election campaign to increase voter awareness.
"Thank you for being concerned about the safety of the YB (honorable). The safety aspect is our priority.
"She (Zuraida) went to the middle of the road symbolising a flashmob and then stood at the side of the road to continue the flashmob for about 30 minutes," she told Sinar Harian.
Taking public opinion into account, she said the next flashmob programme will focus on safer areas and will include areas like the Ampang LRT station.
Meanwhile, some social media users have left comments on Twiiter, including the account owner named Sirr, stating: "This danger is serious... If you are not trained like a road-side seller, you can get hit."
Saifullah Al-BotaKiri also agreed with the comment.
"If a lorry is going fast next to her, she may end up under the wheels," he wrote.
In addition, there are also comments that express sympathy with the campaign method.
"I feel bad watching her campaign. She is so desperate to get votes," wrote Redza.
