KUALA LUMPUR – Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek says that the party’s opposition should have dissolved the state assembly if they are that good in ruling the states they hold.
Shabery had also condemned the opposition’s action which brought floods as the excuse to slam the Umno.
"If floods didn’t happen, the opposition in Pakatan Harapan and Pas in Perikatan Nasional would face a big problem in terms of their image and performance.
"This is because they have made a huge consideration to not dissolve the state assembly on the states they ruled and say the general elections cannot be held due to massive floods that might happen,” he said in a press conference at Menara Dato Onn, here, today.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) elections communications chief also added they had six more days to see whether the opposition’s estimation would turn into reality or otherwise.
Shabery further said BN continuously keeps their candidates’ performance in the whole nation on track and noting on their priorities, also BN’s strengths and weaknesses in every constituency.
Through active measures on local issues and impacts on the performance of BN’s candidates, Shabery said he was confident that victory would be on their side.
"We are now measuring the extent to which national issues impact the performance of our candidates at the local level and vice versa.
"From that, I can share that we have very strong confidence every day close to the voting day because it seems that the parties, especially in the states that are governed by the opposition,” he said.
He said BN also observed the weather situation and water levels during the time and was confident the victory would be on their side.
