TAIPING – The anger and irritation of the military personnel against the claims by Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will translate to votes for BN.

The confidence was voiced by former defence senior minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein following the opposition chief’s actions that questioned the integrity and pride of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM).

"I received a response from ATM that many had felt angry due to those claims.

"They don’t want to and had rejected such narrow consideration of ATM and the translation of that anger will be with the support for BN,” he said after having the walkabout session for the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign at the Kamunting Night and daily market site, here, on Sunday.

He commented when asked regarding the new developments of Anwar’s claims regarding the military personnel that voted through post in Bera Parliament was paid RM300.

Anwar informed that he would channel the information to the Election Commission (EC) including the proof regarding the claims.

Hishammuddin stated he would not serve such outrageous claims from Anwar.

He said the practice of postal votes was not new in the country’s democratic system and among the ATM themselves.

"I am very angry. The dignity and value of our members will not be only as much as RM300.

"That is what we were accused of. So, on behalf of the ATM, I will not entertain such claims. Anwar is being extreme in this issue,” he said.

In another development, the Incumbent of Sembrong Parliament said the combination of BN candidates in Taiping featuring MCA, Umno and MIC representatives in Parliamentary seats and three State Assemblies would create a victory for the party.

He said the approach was a message of unity to those who only see racial and religious issues for narrow political interests.

"That is the formation of a team I dream of and what we are doing here will create a large impact.

"The whole country will be watching to see if the team we are highlighting can stay in the hearts and support of the public,” he said.

For GE15, BN has placed Neow Choo Seong from MCA in the Taiping Parliamentary seat, Datuk Ahmad Shalimin Ahmad Shaffie (UMNO) in the Kamunting State Assembly, Ang Sui Eng (MCA) in Pokok Asam State Assembly and G Shanmugiavalloo (MIC) in the Aulong seat.
