BANGI - Former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak wouldn’t be behind bars today if the people had not voted for a change in 2018.
DAP’s Tony Pua said those who do not want to vote on Nov 19 polls due to the political fatigue since the Sheraton Move back in 2020 may be giving undeserving candidates the win.
"I would like to state that the wave in 2018 saw a corrupt government losing.
"Today if we (Pakatan Harapan) did not win, who would be the current prime minister?
"If it was Najib, the 1MDB (1Malaysia Development Bhd) scandal would be bigger than we can imagine," Pua told voters during a campaign rally for PH’s Bangi candidate Syahredzan Johan.
Pua was one of the major advocates against Najib and the 1MDB scandal.
He added that Najib was in prison because of the wave in 2018.
The Incumbent Damansara MP also highlighted that if Barisan Nasional (BN) was still in government, conditions of the Malaysian forestry as well as the Covid-19 issues would just turn further south.
He was also quoted saying that if Umno won back in 2018, the people would have been oppressed and have no power to speak up.
This, he said, was because Najib would not give anyone a chance to bring him and the party down.
"If Najib won 2018, the people will be oppressed, we will not have the power to speak up anymore because he will not give any party a chance to bring down Najib and BN," he said.
