LARUT – Pakatan Harapan (PH) Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is asked to make a police report regarding his claims of military personnel who voted by post in the Bera Parliament being paid RM300.

Caretaker Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the report is to enable the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to investigate further as well as to clear the name and image of the security forces, which have been tarnished by the allegations.

"If true they were paid, then there should be proof they were paid. We ask for Anwar to make a police report because our country’s law could make detailed investigations when there is a police report,” he said.

He said when met at the Friendly Home Affairs Minister Ceremony with Selama District Police Headquarters (IPD), here, on Saturday.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) Secretary General gave their assurance that a fair and impartial investigation would be carried out even though the claims involved an area contested by the caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

"Fair investigations would be conducted regardless of where the allegations are, in Bera or even if the candidate involves the prime minister.

"Because if he was confident that it was there, show the proof and insya-ALLAH we will take actions following the laws in the country,” he said.

Anwar in a ceremony at Kuala Nerus, Terengganu, on Friday claimed that the military personnel in Bera who was involved in early postal voting was paid RM300.

Anwar claimed to have solid evidence regarding the matter and asked for the Election Commission (EC) to take the appropriate action regarding the matter.
