CYBERJAYA - Caretaker Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin explains it is not wrong for politicians like him to aspire to become prime minister one day.
He said the statement made before indicated that he wanted to serve the country and the people if given the opportunity to lead the government.
"It is not wrong for anyone to have ambitions. Only, (previously) I gave the impression of wanting to serve the country and the people.
"If given the opportunity, I would also like to lead our government in the future. (One of the reasons), we want to show that Umno and BN are not short of leaders who can steer the country in the future," he said at a press conference after the Cyberjaya Hospital Operation Launch Ceremony here on Friday.
Khairy previously expressed his desire to lead Umno and then become prime minister in the future during a talk at Taman Saujana Utama, Sungai Buloh on Tuesday.
However, he said, the desire needs to be proven through victory in Sungai Buloh which he described as quite challenging.
His desire was welcomed by some leaders of his party and the opposing party, with most of them seeing Khairy as an individual worthy of becoming the country's prime minister one day.
