GE15: BN remains focused despite facing more rivals in Batu

SHAH ALAM - Despite the drama between PKR Batu candidates former PKR vice president Tian Chua and the current party candidate P Prabakaran at the parliament constituency, Barisan Nasional (BN) remains unswayed in winning the seat.

BN had nominated its candidate for the Batu parliamentary seat which was the former foreign deputy minister A Kohilan Pillay, who they believed to be relevant to be the representative.

"The Vice President of MIC is a local boy, the school is also there.He deserves to be a representative of the people there to overcome the problem of the urban poor with the high cost of living.

"Our open attitude through the participation of various races in politics shows that this party is still relevant to be the choice of various layers of society for stability and prosperity for the future,” they said.

Batu parliament became the centre of attention after a 10-corner fight was announced at the constituency during the nomination day last Nov 5.

Tian Chua previously represented Batu until 2018 but had to step aside due to a case that led his successor, P Prabakaran to become Batu MP.

However, things became took a different turn when Tian Chua returned to retain his seat in Batu as an independent candidate.

Apart from the drama between the two, Batu parliament also gained the attraction of many other parties namely Perikatan Nasional, Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) and Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan).

Nevertheless, what made the battle in the constituency merrier was many independent candidates also contested to take over the Baru parliament.
