SHAH ALAM – As candidate nomination takes place nationwide today, Shah Alam will see a four-cornered fight with all brand-new candidates who have not contest in the constituency before.
Among the candidate was Dr Afif Bahardin who started his electoral stint in Penang but now returned to Shah Alam in his first bid to not just win the parliamentary constituency but also to serve its constituents.
Contesting under Perikatan Nasional (PN), he said it was time for him to be back as he was born-and-raised in Shah Alam constituency.
Meanwhile, Pakatan Harapan also brought forward their fresh candidate, Selangor Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice chairman Azli Yusof, while Barisan Nasional placed Umno supreme council member, Hizatul Isham Abdul Jalil.
Apart from that, Mohd Rafique Rashid Ali contested under Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang).
Another independent candidate was also rumoured to contest in the constituency but did not show up at the nomination centre until the registration was closed at 10am.
The nomination of candidates for the 15th General Election (GE15) today at Shah Alam parliament went smoothly and the situation was under control, despite the gloomy weather.
