AMPANG - The Pandan parliamentary seat will witness a five-cornered contest in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Representing Pakatan Harapan (PH) to compete in that area was PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli while the candidate from Parti Warisan (Warisan) was Tan Sri Ong Tee Keat who was also the former MCA President.
The other three candidates were Pandan MCA chief Datuk Leong Kok Wee representing BN; Pandan Pas Youth Leaders Muhammad Farique Zubir Albakri (PN) and Nadia Hanafiah (GTA).
The matter was announced Pandan Parliamentary Election Commission (EC) returning officer Julaihah Jamaluddin at a press conference at the candidate nomination centre in Ampang Jaya city council hall here, after the submission of nomination forms at 10am, Saturday today.
For the record, two of the five candidates who competed in the Pandan parliamentary seat were former members of parliament in the area.
Rafizi held the position after GE13 for one term while Ong Tee Keat who was the former Minister of Transport for two terms in GE11 and GE12.
In the last GE14, the seat was held by former PKR President Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail who successfully won the constituency in a five-cornered contest with a majority of 52,543 votes.
