SHAH ALAM - It is time for the people of Bagan Datuk to choose a new MP and political party to represent the constituency.
This, former Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said was because the incumbent MP and Umno president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi failed to channel necessities and allocation to the local residents there.
He said the Bagan Datuk Parliamentary constituency was said to be a Malay stronghold, as the MPs elected since 1995 held positions in Umno.
However, he said this was far from reality as all that glitters is not gold, considering the condition of the Malays in the constituency.
He said it was sad to see that majority of the residents especially those living in the village, were not aware of the RM 3.8 million allocation provided for the parliamentary constituency for the development of infrastructure and programmes for the people.
Shamsul who will also be contesting in the seat for the 15th General Election (GE15) also claimed that there were questions raised on the allocation for fishing boats assistance provided for the fishermen which was not directly channeled to them.
"Instead it (the allocation) was robbed by the middlemen who were not even fishermen and had rented the boats to the fishermen with a rental rate of up to RM200 per day?. If this is true, then it is very sad.
"All this time, Zahid and his suppoorters were proud of the monthly RM300 aid for the fishermen, but they would only be left with RM100 after paying the rent (for the boats).
"So who is actually making profits from squeezing the energy of the fishemen who had to rent the boats in order to make a living? Is it true that the assistance was just for show and then robbed by the cronies of politicians?.
"Was the previous MP management office too careless that such expolitation had occurred?,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
He added that economic distribution needed to happen fairly according to the percentage of the people and not just concentrating on certain areas.
He also invited people to visit Bagan Datuk and see the bad condition of the roads as well as the darkness on the roads at night as there were no lights.
"Be careful as the risk of accidents are high. If you hit a pothole or fall into a ditch on the left and right sides of the roads it is because of the roads are too narrow.
"Wake up Bagan Datuk, it is enough letting the same MP govern the area for 27 years.
"It is time to redeem our dignity and punish the politicians who failed to serve the people," he said.
