KOTA BHARU - Kelantan police have identified 28 hotspots in the state in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Its chief, Datuk Muhammad Zaki Harun said these locations involved nine parliamentary constituencies in Kelantan.

"These areas have been identified based on incidents during the previous general election, hence intense contests are also expected among the candidates this time.”

He said this at a press conference held at the state police contingent headquarters, here, today on the arrests and seizures made in connection with contraband cigarettes.

Muhammad Zaki said police had always been conducting intelligence and monitoring in the state's parliamentary areas to avoid fights erupting during campaigning.

"The district police chiefs are prepared in their own way to handle any eventuality in their respective districts.

"I have also instructed the district police chiefs to monitor the 'troublemakers' in their respective areas as sometimes they can spark serious fights," he added.

Muhammad Zaki also said that the Kelantan IPK’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) had also made special plans to ensure that traffic flow on polling day (Nov 19) would be well controlled. - BERNAMA
