SEREMBAN - Negeri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) Liaison Committee secretary Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus is said to be a candidate to be fielded by the coalition for the Rembau parliamentary seat in the 15th General Election (GE15)
According to a source, Nazree was most likely to contest in the seat and his candidacy was agreed by the state Pas and PN leadership.
"He is the Rembau Bersatu chief and Rembau PN Liaison Committee chief and had started to greet the voters in the district.
"Moreover, among the three names of candidates submitted by Rembau Bersatu, he was seen as the one who has the most potential," he told Sinar Harian on Monday.
The source added that Nazree also resided in the Paroi State Legislative Assembly area which was in the Rembau Parliament and ran a Quranic study centre in Senawang while his father was a native of Kota, Rembau.
"We'll wait and see, the candidate announcement will be made at the PN operation room in Nilai, possibly on Tuesday or Wednesday.
"It seems that GE15 in Rembau this time will witness the clash of two young candidates with Tok Mat (Umno deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan)," he said.
For now, the party that has announced its candidate for the seat was Pakatan Harapan (PH) which will be represented by a candidate from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Jufitri Joha.
As for Barisan National (BN), it was almost certain that it will be represented by Mohamad after incumbent Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin said he was ready to let go of the seat.
Other than that, the state Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) said it will field former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador as a candidate.
However, GTA chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad during a press conference in Senawang recently said he has yet to personally meet with Abdul Hamid to discuss the matter.
