SHAH ALAM - Selangor Pas will take legal action against those who spread false statements over the corruption charge against a former assemblyman from the party who was investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in 2018.
The party's secretary Roslan Shahir Mohd Shahir said Selangor Pas was purportedly defamed for having a leader involved in corruption.
He said investigations on the case involving the former Pas assemblyman had been conducted by the MACC.
"According to the MACC letter to him (former Pas assemblyman) dated May 18, the MACC Legal and Prosecution Division had decided no prosecution will be carried out," he said in a statement on Thursday.
He said Selangor Pas regretted the defamation that continued to be made by irresponsible parties.
Roslan said each party contesting had started their campaigns to ensure their parties win in the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said Selangor Pas respected the practice of a healthy democracy and reminded the machinery as well as party activists in the country to always practice mature and peaceful politics in campaigns.
"Campaign activities must focus on bringing forward promises, policy and the struggle of the party without attacking certain parties let alone spreading slanders that could create tension," he said.
