BAYAN BARU – Gerakan is set to use the Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo for all seats contested in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Gerakan President Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai said the matter had been finalised where the PN logo would be used in all states including Penang.
"Gerakan will use the PN logo in GE15.
"This was finalised and there are no changes to this issue," he said in the press conference after officiating the Bayan Baru PN Parliament Operations Room inauguration, here, on Tuesday.
Penang Gerakan previously asked the Central Gerakan Committee Member to consider the suggestion of using their own logo to contest in GE15 even though they were under PN.
Penang Gerakan Communications Chairman Oh Tong Keong said he had asked the central committee to make their own consideration and discuss with the PN Supreme Council regarding the matter.
Dominic said Gerakan would contest at 18 Parliamentary seats throughout the country in GE15.
He said the party would contest in five Parliamentary seats which were Bukit Bendera, Jelutong, Bayan Baru, Tanjung and Batu Kawan.
"In GE15, we will contest at 18 Parliamentary seats, more than GE14 where we contested in 13 seats (at the time).
"For Penang we will contest at five Parliamentary seats that we could beat (win)," he said in the press conference after the inauguration.
He said the party would feature 80 per cent of new faces as candidates from multiple races and different backgrounds with the potential of winning.
"We have set a few criteria, among them were the acceptance of the people towards the candidate, the candidates that could win and are capable of fighting for the people's rights.
"We will feature new faces and younger candidates to attract the youth voters.
"This is the first time we will place a lot of youth and new candidates compared to before this," he said.
Dominic hinted on him to contest in one of the Penang Parliamentary seats however, he refused to reveal any details.
"PN in each state will announce their candidates contesting in Oct 30.
"We will also announce the PN manifesto for GE15 on Nov 1," he said.
