SHAH ALAM - Pas needs to be more realistic in keeping its promises regarding the implementation of Act 355.
PKR Vice President Nik Nazmi Ahmad said the people continued to be deceived by the race and religious rhetorics played by Pas while the basic issues under the responsibility of its ministers when it became the Federal government including Pas state governments, continue to be unresolved.
"Unfortunately, up until today, Pas remained silent and has not implemented what it fought for before.
"When Pakatan Harapan (PH) was in power, in addition to Act 355, Pas was very vocal in fighting for a number of issues that touched the sentiments of the Malays and the Islamic religion such as the death of Adib, abolition of alcohol and gambling," he said in a statement posted on his Facebook on Sunday.
He said this when commenting on the statement of the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Idris Ahmad over the Syariah Court (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act or better known as Act 355 which was not tabled due to the dissolution of Parliament
Nik Nazmi said in 2017, when Pas was the opposition and BN was the government, the former held a mass rally to urge the implementation of Act 355.
