SHAH ALAM - The Election Commission’s (EC) announcement on the date of the 15th General Election (GE15) is made after careful consideration, says MCA Damansara chairman.
Tan Gim Tuan said the commission must have taken into account the possible situations such as social security and the monsoon season during the polling day.
"I think the EC has taken all these things into consideration and they feel that the date is the most suitable date, so we have to give them the benefit of doubt,” he told Sinar Daily.
Tan said he was also of the view that the EC was had acted impartially when coming up with the decision and that people needed to trust the government’s machinery.
"I hope the candidates will make up with the people so that they are able to choose and I believe that people are smart,” he added.
Meanwhile, former Perak PKR chief Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal said caretaker government and state agencies have to put the people’s welfare above the election.
"The preparations for both election and possible disaster relief had to be done by all stakeholders,” he said briefly.
