MELAKA - Acrobatics and circus performances will be listed as one of Melaka’s tourist attractions as an effort to achieve the five million tourist arrival target, said State Tourism, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman, Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis.
He said such shows especially those from abroad, have great potential to attract crowds and would be featured in the state's 2023 tourism calendar.
"Take the Great British Circus for example, which has included Melaka in its tour list after Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and this is the third third time the show is being held here since 2018.
"We foresee that over 30,000 visitors will attend the show from Oct 15 to Nov 13 and the number is expected to increase as Deepavali approaches since Melaka is a popular tourist destination during festive and school holidays,” he told reporters when met after the Great British Circus show at the State Development Corporation Square here last night.
He said the state government was planning to collaborate with several parties including government-linked companies (GLCs) together with the circus organisers to ensure that the shows continue in the future. - BERNAMA
